Hayes Center, Nebraska. Friday night, March 19th, the Christian Pop Band, “We are Leo” performed in the old gym of Hayes Center High School for a lively crowd.

The event was coordinated by Pastor Leonard LeHair of Bethel Baptist Church in Hayes Center.

“We planned this concert for March of last year but due to Covid we had to postpone until this year. Even then we were not sure we would be able to get it done.”

Bethel Baptist church paid for the concert and it was free for all to attend.

Music lovers of all ages enjoyed the upbeat music that was centered on the Lord.  Several area youth groups also came together.  Maria Lutheran Church of Hershey brought a bus down to listen to the band that has been featured in the movies “Dude Perfect” and God’s Not Dead: A Light in the Darkness”.

Mary Gigax was able to  attend the concert. “I had a very enjoyable evening listening and watching the band perform. They shared the message of how Jesus enriches every aspect of our lives. Kudos to Pastor Leonard for bringing quality entertainment to our community. It was fun!”

The band members of We Are Leo, David Duffield, Joseph Sanborn, and guitarist Matt Gainsford invited the youth in the crowd up to the stage and gave them a chance to dance along. “It was a great concert and I really loved going up on stage with the band.” said Mason Loomis.  His little brother Maddox thought it was “cool” to meet them in person and have them sign his sweatshirt.  Naomi Deaver also enjoyed the concert with her siblings.  “It was amazing! I was really excited I got to go!” added Naomi.

If you missed this concert, there is one more concert scheduled for the youth group this spring. All Jr. High and High School students are invited. It is April 14th in the sanctuary at Bethel Baptist and the band is Seventh Day Slumber. They will be doing an all acoustic concert for the youth.

“Music acts like a magic key, to which the most tightly closed heart opens.”
